Our Team
We’re Team Members of the Baladia Youth Club, We are goal-oriented and bound by sportsmanship.
Mansukh Vekaria
Chairman
I joined the family at age of 11, this gave me the opportunity to mix with the community and make friends. Happy to say that the friends I made over 37 years ago are a part of my life today. Over the years I have become part of the organising committee and with the guidance of our mentors of the club we have been able to grow the seed that they planted. Only way is up, we want to instill friendship and community values of the youth today.
Chandrikant Sonara
Vice Chairman
I’ve been with BYC for over 30 years, many of the friends I made as a teenager are still with me today. The experiences I have gained within BYC have shaped a part of my life and added to the cultural side. I would not be who I am today if I did not spend that time under the BYC family. The experiences I have had through my life are the reasons why I want to add that value to the kids today, hopefully someday they will say the same thing as I am today.
Silpesh Kerai
Treasurer
Having been at the club from a young age, it has been a pleasure to see it continue to grow from strength to strength. During my time at the club, I have gained a lot of knowledge and skills, and also many great experiences through both sports and socials. I am forever grateful to the founding members and everyone involved in developing the club to what we see today.
Vijay Bhojani
Assistant Treasurer
I joined BYC back in 1984, where Late Kanti Kerai, one of our founding members, personally mentored me to serve as the club's treasurer. Since then, I've actively contributed as a committee member, taking on different roles over the years. BYC isn't just a club to me; it's my extended family and a vital aspect of my life.
Jessica Vekaria
Secretary
I've always been an advocate for an active social and well-being lifetsyle, so am always motivated to involve myself in like minded organisations. I joined BYC as a member in 2001 and then came on board as a committee member to help with ideas for growth and sustainability. I feel its so important to help continue this ideology for the next and future generations as it helps build with self-esteem and confidence in a safe, supportive and comforting environment.
Paresh Nanji
Assistant Secretary
I have been a member of BYC for over 20 years and part of the committee for 10 years. BYC has played a huge part in my life, the club has provided me with skills, attributes and most importantly friendships which will stay with me for life. As a young child, Saturday nights at BYC was one of the best parts of the week growing up and I hope with the work we are doing today this feeling is the same for my children in the future.
Naran Vekaria
Sports Head
I have been at BYC since the age of 16. In that time, I have made many new friends, some of whom I now consider as family. The club has provided me with a platform to grow and learn new skills that I use every day now, both in the personal and professional world. As a member of the committee, I want to help build on what we have achieved so far as a club and reach new heights. "Anything is possible" is a statement I firmly believe in.
Punit Daya
Assistant Sports Head
I joined BYC 20 years ago as a teenager with the sole interest of playing football. However, as the years went on, the infectious culture at BYC took hold and I started getting involved in the other sports, social activites, and charitable contributions the club had to offer. BYC has been and continues to be a huge part of my life. There is something for people of all ages, genders and interests... I couldn't recommend the club highly enough for those that are considering joining!
Nanji Vekaria
Social Head
I've been part of BYC family from a very young age, playing Football, Cricket, and other sports. I initially joined the committee as a sports head because I wanted to teach sporting skills to our next generation of kids. I wanted to pass down values and skills. The ropes have now been passed on to continue the values and growing our members' skills. I'm now taking an active role in our social events.
Laxmi Vekaria
Assistant Social Head
I joined the BYC family several years ago as a member as the boys were already part of it, and I wanted to do something inclusive with the family. After leading mini BYC 'projects', I became part of the committee. I've continued to work with the team, helping organise trips, events, and socials. I believe all these things are important for members to do something out of their norm from everyday life and enjoy some social time with our like-minded extended BYC family.
Monica Gajipra
Social Media & PR Head
BYC is practically my second home! I was born into the legacy that is Baladia Youth Club and have been involved in the sports and social aspects since I was knee-high! From my first wobbly steps onto a badminton court to now figuring out where I excel on a netball court, I’ve learnt so much and grown into the person I am today. I’ve shared so many unforgettable moments with friends who are now more like family and I can’t wait to create more everlasting memories!
Avni Bhojani
Social Media & PR Assistant
Over the last 20 years, BYC has been more than just a youth club, it has become family. Whether it’s to play sports, attending social events or going on an infamous BYC Coach Trip, I always know I’ll have the best time with the best people. BYC has had a huge impact on my life and I can’t wait to see what else the future of this club holds.
Dhurmesh Vekaria
Advisor
I have been with BYC for over 30 years and joined in the early 90’s, with the aim to play sports at a competitive level which were an interest to me (Football, Cricket & Badminton). BYC has provided the perfect platform to help push myself at a sporting level and helped develop key skills which are used daily, such as teamwork, taking on feedback and respecting one another. BYC helps brings generations together, as there is something for all ages and genders. The social activities at BYC helps bring together members across all sports along with their families. The charity work done by BYC supports the local and wider community. BYC has been and will continue to be a key part of my life.
